Question For Tony Dungy

I Need Goals

One question for Tony Dungy. What is Oregon Duck thug running back Legarrett Blount’s major? Why do I ask? Because I’m sure you don’t know the answer. You don’t know the answer because it’s obvious that you don’t see a college degree as a worthy goal. Oregon coach Chip Kelly rightfully suspended Blount for the season after he embarrassed himself, his family, his team, and his university. Being a senior, this would effectively end Blount’s football career, but Kelly did him a huge favor. By suspending him rather than dismissing him, Mr. Blount would be allowed to keep his scholarship, free books, access to tutors, etc. and work towards his degree in return for helping the team in practice and staying out of trouble. Then, after consultations with you, Kelly comes away thinking Blount needs “goals to work towards” and says he can now return to the field this season. He had a goal to work towards, coach Dungy, and that goal would have benefited him more than playing a few more games.

Dungy is a big supporter of dog torturing felon Michael Vick, too. Seems like his squeaky-clean image is more of a by-product of being associated with Peyton Manning for so long.

There’s no question that punching an opposing player deserves punishment, even if that opposing player talked a bunch of smack and even shoved you in a stunning display of poor sportsmanship that went totally unpunished. Blount made a bad decision, and he received swift consequences from his actions.

Ultimately, though, we can’t give everyone the death penalty for every transgression. American society’s approach to crime and punishment is that the role of discipline is to correct a person’s actions - and that people should be given the opportunity to redeem themselves after their punishment is complete.

Historically, few players have been suspended an entire year for offenses of this type; most, in fact, have gotten off with a game or two. Blount will sit out at least seven games, and will have to demonstrate his commitment under his coach’s watchful eye to have any hope at reinstatement.

Justice tempered with mercy. That’s what we do in America. If you want people beheaded for minor crimes, try some other country…and keep your hands in your pockets while you’re there, lest they be chopped off.

Tony Dungy is a racist as it seems he supprots, and only supports the black players’ issues.

Tony Dungy deserves nothing more than RESPECT. Calling him a racist? Just because he wants to help troubled athletes through a tough time, all-be-it self-imposed?

Tony Dungy has been through more than most will ever know, and accomplished more than most ever have.

Maybe he sees his son in these young men, and wants to prevent another father from going through what he had to endure.

Black he may be, HUMAN he is.

    Clay,
Do you really believe that non-sense? The image of Dungy has nothing to do with Manning. The winning yes, but Dungy as man? You really are full of it
