Sorry Colts fans, but it was all about the money. Jim Caldwell and president Bill Polian weren’t lying to the Jets all week in the spirit of competetive advantage. They were lying to YOU. When they told you that only injured starters would get a rest, it wasn’t a ploy to spring secret offensive weapon Curtis Painter on them. It was a ploy to have you show up and spend your hard earned money at a game that they had secretly deemed meaningless. While you were hoping for an undefeated season and your place in the record books, they were hoping you would show up for a game they cared nothing about winning and buy $8 beers and $6 pizza slices. That you did. It was all about the money.

I totally agree with giving fans a refund. Unfortunately I think the “ultimate lie” and secrecy extends beyond Caldwell and Polian. I truly believe the NFL and NY Media want to make sure “AT ALL COSTS”, that a NY Team represents the East Coast heading into the playoffs. It’s a rotten deal the Colt’s fans had to swallow. I clearly see the NFL’s hidden agenda here. I sincerely feel for Manning, the players and especially the fans.

I live in Virginia and I am a Colts fan, felt this let down hard, saw the faces of the players, cried, and I hope you get refunds!! This season was going to make history and I guess Polian and Caldwell didn’t want it. Doesn’t guarentee a Super Bowl! And!!! Peyton’s contract is up in 2011.
When you are so close to making REAL history, something that will be talked about forever, to be looked upon by the gleaming eyes of our great great grand-children, and you back off like this to save your own skin to play another day, they call you one thing:
