S.I.’s Andy Staples interviewed the two Florida Gators’ commitments who were pictured wearing bandannas over their faces and flashing what looked to be gang signs in a previous post. Both maintain that they were incorrectly depicted by the photos. Of themselves. That they posted. Gator recruit Lynden Trail said that the sign he was flashing in the photo wasn’t a “gang” sign, merely a “neighborhood” sign. So let’s take their word for it and chalk it up as a couple of people being immature and trying to act “gangsta.” The problem is perception. Mr. Trail enhanced this perception by placing the caption “BIRD GANG BITCH” under the photo of himself displaying his “neighborhood” hand signal. Compounding that perception problem is the fact that as of the time this post is going public, Mr. Trail’s Myspace page still has photo albums labeled SCBG Family (SCBG is used by some people as an acronym for Swamp City Bird Gang) and SCYT (used by some people as an acronym for Swamp City Young Thugs). Add to that the many references to both of these groups by others in the Overtown/Swamp City neighborhood and pictures of them using the same “neighborhood” hand sign along with guns and drugs, and it can definitely cause some misconceptions. Like maybe you’re in a gang.
Also of note is the fact that the bandanna on Mr. Trails face in the above photo is the same design used by known members of the Swamp City Bird Gang. A representative from the Miami-Dade Police Department declined to answer questions regarding the gang, stating that the information requested “is of investigative value and we do not divulge information on sensitive topics.”
That is one of the most crime/gang ridden areas in the country.

Gator4(25 to life), I seriously doubt that ANYONE is jealous that this thug isn’t going to be on their campus.

Gator: You seem to be concerned about your school winning football games. That’s nice. At other schools, we expect the same. But we also expect that our student athletes go to school, not sell drugs, be in gangs, or flash guns in public. Fix your priorities. Florida is the new Miami.

You didn’t see Spikes doing that to Bama when they played - Bama would have crushed and plastered him since they have far superior strength and agressive athletes because they dont get pushed around. Spikes is a coward for doing that anyway while the dude was in a pile. In any case, keep recruiting little thugs..Florida’s program is going downhill somewhat: lost Charlie Strong, recruits are gangsters, Meyer has nothing when Tebow leaves. If you cant have an undefeated season with Tebow/Kleenex Kid then what will you lack without him.
